Night Ferry to Italy

We decided to cut out a lot of driving (some 1500km) and get the ferry from Barcelona to Rome!

The ferry was pretty good, our cabin was great, much more spacious than I had thought with an en suite. Everyone had a very good night's sleep. Phew! Food was good and great value. Unfortunately our plans of living it up on deck in the pool on a cruise liner were thwarted as the pool had no water in it (see pics... very dodgy indeed!). There was a kids room but unfortunately they'd forgotten to put any toys/ activities in it.

Main downer was the ship arriving 4 hours late into Rome, we disembarked at 0100... great!!! Nowhere to park up at the ferry terminal, what do you do with 3 kids and a large caravan at 0100 on a sunday morning in Rome?? Drive to crazy Naples of course!

Shame the pool had no water! And a very dodgy
net to stope people falling in.

As advertised pool full of water.....

Islamic Arts Museum: “Classy Museum”

Interesting exhibits. I loved all the antiques and beautiful artifacts from the Islamic world. It's all housed in a magnificent building with good air conditioning. The whole area exudes calm unlike some of the more touristy parts of KL. A credit to the city.

Bukit Bintang at Night

KL comes alive at night. I went to Bukit Bintang (two stops on the monorail). At the back of the main street was a fantastic street of Chinese food stalls. The atmosphere was sultry with an eclectic mix of smells. The place reminded me of the Ridley Scott movie Blade Runner (me as Harrison Ford of Course). I have posted some photos but they won't do it justice as I took them on my trusty iPhone 4 but it will give you an idea!

China Town in KL

I had a marathon day of exploring KL yesterday. I mostly walked around with some trips on the excellent monorail. I went to China Town around mid-morning. To be honest to was pretty underwhelming. Lots of cheep backpacking places etc. However there was an interesting chinese medicine institute.
